Poem - Waiting Room

Not a new poem, written a while ago but my poor bare blod needs a wee something added to it before it feels too neglected!

WAITING ROOM

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Slow motion picture scene

Heavy eyes and weighed down limbs

Memories flicker...of what has been

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Another minute. Another check

Lights fade and sound is no more

No mercy mission can save this wreck

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Statue of stone in the coming dawn

Others return to the land of the living

Lights put out and the curtain is drawn

Double Whammy

Decided since I have not posted for far too long to add two poems from my poetry book. Would appreciate any comments:

Just A Pill

They do. They do
make you blue, black, blue.
Tiny swallowable bullets
Killing
Dying
Falling
Purchasable death
Oh glorious overdose of pleasure
Breath holes fill
with the stench of vomit
As the heart
beat.......beat....beats......slower
Until you die, die, die.
Farewell.
Goodbye.

The Snake Pit

Slithering slowly, hissing and spitting
spraying murderous, invisible venom
Airbourne disease
Firing, forcing on deaf ears
Lies. Slide off the slimy scales

Securing the sinner's swift
bombardment. The lies. The lies.
Rain down as the innocent cries
Wail and flail. Until the skulking
shadow slowly devours.

Stop!
Listen........

Bonfire (poem)

This poem might have best served in November but I wrote it a long time ago and came across it today. I had mentioned "fire fairies" with someone on Twitter not long ago so thought I would post this poem. Hope anyone who reads it enjoys it and would welcome any comments:

Bonfire

The fire fairies dance
among glowing embers
that flicker hypnotically
on icy winter grounds.
They dance toward the sky
lighting upward layers
of bitter, cold air
which traps all sound
As they climb and climb
they start to disappear
and the ground
returns to dampness
The flickering gone
I am left alone

Invader (a poem)

INVADER

The stairs creaked and my body shivered
In a night so dark
and horridly silent
but for this creak, creak, creaking sound.
Who is there?
No reply
No sound
But for the creak, creak, creaking of the stairs
Please do not harm me
I have nothing to take
Leave this house and me in peace
Still the stairs creaked and creaked
Hysterical now, I start to scream
Leave me in peace!
Take all that you want
and all you desire
Creak, creak, creaking of the relentless pursuer
As the creaking stopped
A sudden howl was heard
from the owl perched on the silver struck tree
Shadow at the bottom of the door
This is it
As the door slides open
Blinding light pierced in
But nothing
No-one
was there
